Women’s handball team Oltchim Ramnicu Valcea won 33-28 against Norway’s Larvik in their last Champions League Group C match. The victory boosted Valcea players’ morale before the Main Round and, at the same time, prevented Norwegians from celebrating with a victory their 100th match in the Champions League competition. Elsewhere, reigning champions Viborg won their last match in Group A, but missed qualifying into the Main Round of the competition. Cristina Varzaru & comp outplayed Russia’s Dinamo Volvograd, yet they needed to win by at least a nine-goal difference to qualify into the next stage. The eight teams qualified into the Main Round are: Buducnost, Dinamo Volvograd, Itxako, HC Leipzig, Larvik, Oltchim, Gyor and RK Krim. The Main Round draw will be held in Vienna today.
