Romania’s steel output up 19.2 pc in October

Romania’s steel output increased by 19.2 pc in October, to 360,000 tons, from 302,000 tons a year ago, following the international trend that took global steel output from 114.8 to 117.6 million tons within a year, according to data released by the World Steel Association, quoted by Mediafax. Romania’s output however dropped by 10.8 pc against October 2008, when it stood at 404,000 tons of steel. In the first 10 months of the year, steel output rose by 48.8 pc, from 2.2 million tons last year to 3.3 million tons. Against the 4.6 million tons delivered in the similar period of 2008, the amount of steel supplied to Romanian-based customers dropped by 28.4 pc.
