The Government passed the Blanket Salary Law of the public sector for year 2011, PM Emil Boc told last night from Victoria Palace. Base salaries in the public sector will thus increase by 15 pc in 2011, which still leaves them 13.75 pc under June 2010, when they were cut by the government. ‘This is what Romania can afford right now keeping in mind the 4.4 per cent budget deficit”, Boc said. The minimum wage will be 670 RON. The new level will not be modified until the end of next year. The law also rules out any incentives, bonuses, meal tickets and holiday tickets for 2011. The government intends to take responsibility for the law in Parliament. The cabinet also gave the go ahead yesterday to the on-line payment of taxes.
