Japanese taiko artist performance today

One of the most popular taiko (traditional Japanese drums) artists, Takumi Kato (aged 29), will concert today, starting 8 pm, in the Romanian-American University’s Theatre, according to a release remitted to “Nine O’Clock” by the Serendipity Teashop.

The concert offered by Takumi Kato, under the title “Invoking the Gods: The Mystery of Japanese Drums” is part of the artist’s 2010 tour, which includes performances in the United States (Chicago and Pittsburgh), Romania (Bucharest and Oradea) and Croatia (Zagreb).

The Bucharest concert will be preceded by a workshop in the Romanian-American University’s foyer (building C), between 5 and 7 pm. In this workshop, Takumi Kato will demonstrate his percussion skills and will invite some of the members of the audience to take part in an interactive rehearsal to initiate them into the mysteries of Japanese drums.

Entrance at the concert and workshop is free and is based on an invitation which may be acquired by subscription on the website www.creativebucuresti.org/taiko.html.
