Nicolae Popa will be extradited to Romania in December, a spokesman of the Indonesian Police announced, quoted by Jakarta Globe. “The chief of the Indonesian Police and the Romanian ambassador agreed Thursday on Popa’s extradition. Police received permission from the president and the Justice Ministry to send Popa to Romania,” said Iskandar Hasan, a spokesman for the Indonesian Police. Former Gelsor CEO Nicolae Popa was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia, in the fall of 2009. In 2006, he was sentenced by the Bucharest Tribunal to 15 years in prison, for fraud, in a trial that also sent Ioana Maria Vlas behind bars. The verdict was confirmed as final in 2009.
