Cristian Diaconescu is the National Union for Romanian Progress (UNPR)’s appointed candidate for presidency, the party’s acting president, Gabriel Oprea, stated, on Saturday, in the party’s county conference in Baia Mare. “We think that (e.n. honorary) president Diaconescu has the professional expertise and the moral stature which entitle him to run for such an office and win it,” Oprea stated.
