“Tuesday, after Christmas” wins three awards in Gijon

The film “Tuesday, after Christmas”, by Radu Muntean, was the great winner in the Gijon Film Festival (Spain) – which ended on Saturday -, collecting three of the most important awards, including the best film trophy, according to the website of the event. Thus, this feature film centred on a love triangle, signed by Radu Muntean, won the best film, best actor in a leading role (Mimi Branescu) and the best actress in a leading role (ex aequo Mirela Oprisor and Maria Popistasu). The film “Tuesday, after Christmas”, whose cast also includes Dragos Bucur, Adrian Vancica, Victor Rebengiuc and Silvia Nastase, was selected in this year’s edition of the Cannes Festival, in the Un Certain Regard competition.

Romania was represented, in the Gijon Festival, by four productions. Alongside Radu Muntean’s film, the feature films official competition also included “Aurora”, by Cristi Puiu, which won, in the Saturday gala, the art direction award, granted to Vali Ighigheanu and Andreea Popa. “Aurora”, which had its world premiere, in the Un Certain Regard section of this year’s Cannes Festival, boasts Cristi Puiu’s contribution not only as director, but also as the leading actor.
