In an entry on her personal blog, Minister Elena Udrea said she was not surprised by the District 5 Court’s rejection of her court action against Olguta Vasilescu, adding that current judicial practice “doesn’t give a dime” about such concepts as honour and image. “The degrading of the public area is to a great extent caused by Justice’s wrong understanding of its role and duties on guaranteeing personal rights to freedom, dignity and public image,” Udrea wrote in a blog post entitled “Lack of Justice”
“Current judicial practice shows judges don’t give a dime about such concepts as honour, dignity and image, fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Constitution. This is yet another reason to agree with those who say the evil in the Romanian society nowadays comes from a lack of justice, first and foremost,” the minister concluded. Bucharest District 5 Court of Law turned down Elena Udrea’s lawsuit against Olguta Vasilescu and the latter being demanded to pay RON 100,000 in civil damages for moral damages caused to the Tourism Ministry.
