Poll: Romanians disappointed by national living standards

Almost three quarters of the Romanians think that Romania does not offer, at present, conditions for civilized living and a decent living standard. These are the conclusions of a poll conducted by the Romanian Evaluation and Strategy Institute (IRES) and commissioned by Realitatea TV. Nonetheless, 70 per cent of respondents state they do not wish to leave the country. 60 per cent chose Romania as the country they would like to live in. Almost 80 per cent of the Romanians think our country does not offer young people a safe future. Nevertheless, 60 per cent believe young people should stay in Romania to build a future and only 35 per cent believe otherwise. Furthermore, according to the IRES study, 73 per cent of the Romanians think our country does not offer conditions for civilized living, and 72 per cent think one cannot lead a decent life in Romania. On the other hand, the poll indicates that 30 per cent of the Romanians have considered at least once seeking a job abroad. Out of the latter, a quarter admitted they envisaged starting a new life abroad.
