Schengen accession calendar report presented in Brussels

The Minister of Administration and Internal Affairs, Traian Igas, attends, on December 1 and 2, in Brussels, the Salzburg Forum’s Ministerial Summit and the Justice and Internal Affairs Council Meeting, a release by the Interior Ministry announces.


The minister was due to present the progress of Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area, advances made so far, as well as stages to be covered according to the accession calendar, according to the aforementioned source. At the invitation of the Salzburg Forum’s Slovenian Presidency, Interior Ministers in the Forum’s member states convene in Brussels, topics on the agenda including mutual interest matters related to public security. The ministers addressed urgent topics regarding coordination at European Union level, including ways to ensure a closer collaboration between the Salzburg Forum and the European Parliament, the new mechanisms being proposed for the Schengen evaluation, the progress of SIS II, the Common European Asylum System, as well as road traffic safety.
