Turandot


Friday’s performance with “Turandot” will feature a special guest at the Opera House, Bulgarian tenor Kamen Chanev who will sing the part of Calaf. Also featuring in the performance will be guest artist Cristian Mogosan as Pang and Opera regulars Sorina Munteanu and Crina Zancu. Conducting the orchestra will be Tiberiu Soare.

Kamen Chanev has graduated the Music Academy in Sofia and has completed a doctorate in Rome. He has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages from Vienna’s State Opera to Prague and Venice. During the 2009-2010 season, Chanev sang in “Nabucco” in Vienna and “Macbeth” at Dublin Opera, “Tosca” at Hungarian State Opera, “Madama Butterfly” at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Valencia and “Turandot” at Classic Open Air – Solothurn, Switzerland.. He also collaborated with the Romanian Opera in “Aida” earlier this year.
