Iasi train derailment leaves three injured

One of the carriages of the slow passenger train along the route from Iasi to Dorohoi went off track at Letcani, Saturday evening, having hit a car. Three persons were injured in the accident.

According to the police, it was the car driver who was at fault, as he crossed the railway crossing despite light and sound warnings being on. The first carriage derailed after the collision and the car sustained serious damage. The car driver was seriously injured, while a passenger in the car and the train driver were lightly injured. The driver was extricated out of the car. Luckily, nearly all of the 45 passengers aboard the train were in the second carriage, which prevented them from being injured. They were safely evacuated from the train.
