Romania’s representatives at the Judo World Cup in Suwon (South Korea) have won two Gold medals last weekend. Corina Caprioriu won the women’s 57-kilogram event, while Dan Fasie won the men’s 66-kilogram event. Romania finished the competition on third place in the general standings.
Corina Oana Caprioriu defeated India’s Anita Angom Chanu, France’s Helene Receveaux and China’s Guirong Zhu in the groups’ stage. The Romanian athlete went on to defeat South Korea’s Jan-Di Kim in the semifinal and Britain’s Gemma Howell in the final.
Romania’s Andreea Chitu finished the women’s 57-kilogram event on 5th place, while Romania’s Carmen Bogdan finished the women’s 48-kilogram event on 7th place with two victories in three games.
Dan Fasie won Gold in the men’s 66-kilogram event after defeating Indonesia’s Kadek I Rakyanda and South Korea’s Bo-Bae Hwang in the groups’ stage. He went on to defeat China’s Renwang Liu in the semifinals and South Korea’s Jun-Ho Cho in the final.
The results pushed Romania on third place in the general standings, behind South Korea (7 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals, 10 Bronze medals) and China (2 Gold medals and 2 Bronze medals).
