President Traian Basescu yesterday called upon the Parliament through a letter sent to the speakers of the two Chambers to urgently adopt the unified wage law, the public pension law, the state budget law and Ordinance 50/2010. ‘The fast adoption of these acts is an essential condition for Romania to be able to successfully finalise its agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the European Union and the World Bank’, Basescu argues in his letter. As PDL Vice-President Gheorghe Flutur said yesterday, the Government plans to send the 2010 state budget law to the Parliament today. Flutur pointed out that the draft 2011 budget law was designed in such a way ‘that it would need no further adjustments and unpopular measures’. ‘We hope to finish with austerity measures now, in 2010’, he said.
