Lindsey Vonn claimed her 11th career Super-G title with victory in the season-opener at Lake Louise on Sunday, Sky Sports informs. The World Cup overall champ clocked a time of one minute, 20.72 seconds to extend her winning streak at the Canadian resort to seven straight years. Vonn’s win came as sweet revenge over second placed Maria Riesch who had beaten the-26-year-old American on the previous two downhill runs at the venue. German Riesch clocked 1:21.55 and led the standings some time until she was eclipsed Vonn’s attacking run on the 1.97 kilometre Whitehorn Mountain course. Vonn’s compatriot Julia Mancuso finished third in 1:21.61 after initially giving Riesch a fright with her blistering pace at the top of the course only to lose time on the flats. “Today I dropped the hammer a little bit more and believed in myself,” said Vonn.
