Education Law will return to Senate Committee

Senators ruled Monday evening to return the draft Education Law to the Education Committee, which should issue a new report, as the senators of the ruling coalition said the old report does not comply with the Regulation. The Senate voted to return the Law to the Commission with a score of 71 to 15 and two abstentions, after representatives of all political groups in Parliament debated matters of procedure for an hour. Before setting the 30-day deadline, the leaders of various groups took a break for consultations, as the Opposition demanded either a shorter interval, or the promise of UDMR and PDL that the Power will not try to postpone the vote when the Law is put on debate in plenum. Even some opposition senators, who initially opposed this move, eventually voted in favour of returning the Law to the Committee, after PDL and UDMR assured that, one month from now (actually at the beginning of the next Parliament session in February) the Power will not try to delay the vote in the plenum.
