The son of Democrat Liberal Senator Sorina Placinta, Andrei Placinta, appealed against a court’s decision to remand him for 29 days in the case in which he is probed on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery, disturbing public order and other acts of violence. The young man’s lawyer says the entire case is an exaggeration on behalf of prosecutors. “From our point of view, there are no solid grounds to charge him with attempted murder,” the lawyer said, according to Realitatea TV.
Placinta was remanded for 29 days on Wednesday, in the wake of a huge conflict he triggered earlier this week in downtown Bucharest. The young man had a violent argument with his girlfriend and then ran over a passer-by who attempted to intervene and calm him down.
