The Ecumenical Prayer Group in the Romanian Parliament organized, on Thursday, at the Palace of Parliament, the fifth edition of the Prayer Breakfast, a manifestation attended by representatives of several religious cults, deputies and senators, as well as foreign guests. The guests had breakfast together, and the menu included meat dishes, as the event was ecumenical in nature. “The Prayer Breakfast is the main activity organized by the Romanian Parliament’s Ecumenical Prayer Group. It takes place every year, as in the Parliaments of all important countries. It was an interesting manifestation, we had a large attendance and I think it is a good occasion to discuss Christian values in politics. Our wish is to promote a sense of unity, peace and good will regarding the relevance of the Christian message of mutual understanding in politics,” the Social-Democrat Party (PSD) deputy Cristian Dumitrescu, the chair of the Ecumenical Prayer Group, stated. When asked whether political reconcilement and forgiveness can be achieved, Dumitrescu replied “there is, first and foremost, the will to do good.” Roberta Anastase, the Chamber of Deputies Speaker, also attended the manifestation, referring, among other things, to the place of religion in politics.
