Twenty Romanian authors receive the Cultural Merit

Culture Minister Hunor Kelemen on Thursday granted a series of cultural merits to several Romanian authors for their special contribution to language and culture development. Among recipients this year were Adriana Bittel, Gabriel Chifu and Cassian Maria Spiridon, who were granted a Commandor of Arts medal. Also, the Officer order was given to the likes of Adrian Alui Gheorghe, Dumitru Chioaru and Horia Razvan Garbea, while the Knight order came to prose writer Gabriel Oprita. Other critics and poets were granted with the highest literary honours bestowed on Romanian authors.

“I am sure that literature is not in recession, when a crisis exists in society, new paradigms appear in art and new values are created,” Minister Kelemen said.
