Two Romanian films receive multiple awards in Thessaloniki

The debut feature from Bogdan George Apetri, “Peripheral” (Periferic) and Marian Crisan’s “Morgen” have between themselves won six awards on Saturday’s evening award ceremony marking the end of one of Europe’s best-loved festivals. Last year, there were two other films in Thessaloniki who received honours – “Medal of Honour” and “Sports Fishing.” “Peripheral” won the festival’s most important award, the Golden Alexander trophy (worth EUR 20,000) and other accolades such as best actress trophy won by Ana Ularu and the Greek Critics’ Award. “Morgen” received the FIPRESCI honour, the Best Director award and the best actor one which went to both of the film’s protagonists Andras Hathazi and Yilmaz Yalcin. The Greek production “Attenberg” won the Silver Alexander, while the third prize and the Public’s Special award went to Mexican production “Jean Gentil.”
