The joint-hosts of EHF EURO 2010 lost their opening match in Group II of the Main Round as a strong Sweden team beat them 24-19 (13-6) in Lillehammer, according to ehf-euro.com. Norway remain on four points in their group, whilst their Nordic neighbour now top the group on six points following their fourth straight victory in the tournament and are well on their way to qualify through to the semi-finals. The Swedish team built the foundations of their win on an extremely aggressive and compact defence. Romania and Croatia started their Main Round, Group I campaign last night, after the close of this newspaper’s edition, going some way towards qualification for the semi-finals.
