Senate Speaker Mircea Geoana on Tuesday told the ambassadors of EU countries that the Romanian side is worried and not at all content with how important positions in the European External Action Service (EEAS) were distributed. He added that what has happened until now was “very unfair” and the whole issue needs a direct and diplomatic solution. “We have no doubt that some of the candidates proposed by us – I personally know some of them, I worked with them – are very good professionals,” Geoana pointed out, adding that the positions have been filled in a very “opaque” manner.
Mircea Geoana also informed the EU diplomats about the unanimous wish of all Romanian forces to support the accession to the Schengen Zone in March 2011.
