Ex Geoana aide: Ponta is following orders

The former aide of Senate Speaker Mircea Geoana when he ran for president last year, Cozmin Gusa, attacked Social Democrat leader Victor Ponta in an interview to daily ‘Romania libera,’ saying that Ponta is following orders and has a propensity to treason. Gusa said that when Ponta advised Geoana to lie about his visit to controversial businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu ahead of the final debate in last year’s presidential runoff, he was executing an order. When asked on whose orders Ponta was acting, Gusa replied, “Ponta was following orders in general: from his wife, his father-in-law, various people who have something on him.” Gusa also said he never so Ponta acting in politics based on his convictions, but always “reasoning based on a certain programme.” He also accused the PSD leader of “having played a game to serve his friends Gabriel Oprea and Elena Udrea” last year when he advised Geoana to lie. Gusa added that the PSD leader has an inclination to treason and that he is under the influence of “experienced people in some institutions, including less transparent ones.”
