Andrei Pavel to coach Jelena Jankovici

Former tennis player Andrei Pavel will coach Jelena Jankovici, former leader of the WTA standings, in 2011, the Serb press informs. According to ‘Blic,’ Pavel has accepted to coach Jankovici next season, the Serbian player admitting that she has reached an agreement with the current captain of the Romanian Davis Cup team. Andrei Pavel (36) retired in 2009 and is considered the best Romanian tennis player of the last 30 years. Pavel won three singles tournaments and seven doubles tournaments and prizes that surpass USD 5.2 M. Born on February 28, 1985, Jankovici won 12 WTA tournaments and more than USD 11.5 M. Jankovici topped the WTA standings on August 11, 2008. She was the first player to top the WTA standings without reaching a single Grand Slam final. Jankovici subsequently played in the US Open final in 2008.
