Electric automobiles speed up the adoption of intelligent power grids

A widespread use of electric automobiles will give consumers a reason to sustain the cost of installing intelligent power grids, reads a press release issued by Cisco yesterday, quoted by Agerpres. The construction of an intelligent power grid will take billions of USD from American taxpayers’ pockets, but the owners of electric cars like Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt or Ford Focus EV – expected to hit US showrooms in the coming months – will need intelligent power grids to squeeze the extra mile out of their new vehicles. For now, less than 2 million vehicles, out of a total 250 million cars and trucks existing in the USA, are hybrid – with both electric and traditional engines.
