ANI will appeal against prosecutors’ decision to clear Robert Negoita of all charges

The National Integrity Agency (ANI) announced Friday that it will challenge in court the prosecutors’ decision not to open a criminal probe into the case of PSD Deputy Robert Negoita. In a communiqué, ANI writes that the prosecutors confirm the existence of omissions in the politician’s wealth statement. In the same document, ANI officials contradict the statements of the PSD legislator, who accused the Agency of “misleading the public.” Also Friday, PSD announced that the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice found no reasons to open a criminal probe, following the ANI complaint against PSD Deputy Robert Sorin Negoita, regarding the inexact manner in which he filled his wealth statement. The PSD release quotes Negoita saying that the ANI complaint “has a political background that aims at diverting public attention from the really important problems, and proves the ruling power’s ability to manipulate the institutions of the state to its own profit.” “I demand the whole ANI leadership to resign, because it disrespects the people of this country, by invoking inexistent crimes, at the order of PDL and of President Basescu,” Negoita accuses.
