After managing to conquer Aconcagua (6,962 meters) this year, Romanian mountain climber Dragos Veleanu lost his life during an expedition in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, near Lake Balea, editie.ro informs. “He started playing with some icicles. A giant slab of ice collapsed on top of him. When we reached him he was already dead,” mountain climber Cornel Roman stated. The icicle that killed the mountain climber had a length of two meters and a diameter of approximately one meter at its base. Mountain rescuers were immediately called but they were unable to do anything for Dragos.
