Unirea Urziceni FC will play the second half of the League I season in Chiajna after the locality’s mayoralty became a shareholder of the club that won the Romanian title in the 2008/2009 season. “By combining the two teams we want to make a single powerful team in order to survive in League I. There are nine Unirea players that will come to Chiajna in the second half of the season. Starting next summer the team will be called Unirea Chiajna or we’ll find another name. Ours is a long-term project, we have a centre with 10 training grounds, 2 gyms, a hotel, everything that a respectable club needs. The stadium is similar to English stadiums, the only covered stadium in the country,” Chiajna Mayor Mircea Minea stated for sport.ro.
