The Government sent the International Monetary Fund (IMF) a letter claiming Romania had met all the necessary conditions to be granted a new instalment of the loan, having closed 2010 with a deficit of 6.6 per cent of GDP, with 1.27 million public sector employees and with the arrears stock below the limits set, official sources inform, quoted by Mediafax. For 2010, the Government had committed to maintain the budget deficit below 6.8 per cent of GDP and to restore it at 4.4 per cent of GDP in 2011. The gross domestic product was estimated, last year, at RON 511.58 bln.
