Qatar Airways to start Bucharest-Doha direct flights Jan. 17

The airline Qatar Airways will begin operating from Jan. 17. four direct Airbus A320 flights a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday – between Doha and Bucharest (Otopeni), and on, to Budapest, Mediafax reports. The Budapest-bound Qatar Airways plane will make a 1 hour stopover at Otopeni before taking off for its final destination, which will also be the departure point for the return flight, to include a Bucharest stopover. Qatar Airways is one of the five air carriers to which Skytrax, an independent aviation industry monitoring body, has awarded a five-star status. The Qatar air operator plans to expand its fleet to 110 aircraft by 2013, nearly double from the current number.
