Justice Minister asks the CSM setup meeting to be postponed

Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu asked yesterday the Superior Council of Magistrates (CSM) and the High Court of Cassation and Justice to postpone the setup meeting of the new CSM, scheduled for today, January 7, reads a press release quoted by HotNews.ro. Wednesday, while CSM presented its activity report for last year, President Traian Basescu urged the Council to postpone the election of its president and vice-president until the verdict of the Constitutional Court (CC). The Senate’s decision to validate CSM has been challenged at the CC, which should give a verdict on January 20.In retort, Judge Dan Lupascu said politicians had been trying to block CSM setup in 2005, too and that the reform had been launched back then out of revenge to the Justice system.
