New Air Force Chief of Staff

The new Air Force Chief of Staff, the Major General Fanica Carnu, was invested in office, on Friday, in the presence of the National Defence Minister, Gabriel Oprea. Carnu replaces in office Lieutenant General Ion-Aurel Stanciu, who retired. The new Chief of Staff graduated, in 1977, from the Aviation Military School, training as a pilot, and held, in turn, positions related to his military specialty and positions at the helm of structures within the General Staff and Air Force Staff. Up to now he has acted as representative of the General Staff at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).
