Arson at Piatra Neamt café

A café downtown Piatra Neamt city was torched Sunday night by still unidentified arsonists. The place belongs to a person whose nearby shop was also lit on November 13, 2010. The owner had ties with local crime clans, including Gheorghita Mararu who was shot dead in another cafe on November 14, 2010, only a day after the arson at the ‘Onym’ store. The main suspect is the shooter of Mararu, Cristian Chilat alias Falau. The November execution led to the dismissal of the Neamt County Police head Aurelian Soric and set in motion a local Police administrative probe. Neamt investigators suspect this latest incident to be retaliation or insurance fraud.
