The soprano Felicia Filip, an artist blessed with a rare sensibility and an exceptional voice, which delighted music-lovers on hundreds of stages across four continents, will open the event series of the “Ludovic Spiess” Experimental Opera and Ballet Studio (SEOB) within the Bucharest National Opera (ONB) with an extraordinary recital. The recital “Eu sunt Felicia!” (I am Felicia!), scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, starting 6:30 pm, brings before the public Felicia Filip both as an opera soloist, as well as in other surprising hypostases. “Eu sunt Felicia!” is not merely a recital, bur rather an aspiration and a testimony. People have often referred to Felicia Filip’s vocation, to her talent and successes. On this occasion, the artist comes before the public under several guises, interwoven in a syncretic manifestation, merging opera and operetta, ballet, poetry, as well as gospel.
Felicia Filip has been the first opera soloist in Romania who, after singing in opera houses in London, Vienna, Tokyo or Toronto, has joined the legendary band Iris in a symphonic rock project which has endured for over a decade and which held, for a record time, a top position in the musical charts. This experience offered Felicia Filip an occasion to approach other artistic genres, allowing her to expand her range of expression and boosting her popularity across all age groups. In Wednesday’s recital, Felicia Filip invited some of her artist-friends to join her, including the prima ballerina of the ONB Ballet Company, Corina Dumitrescu, the actor Vlad Radulescu – unforgettable in the title lead of “Ciprian Porumbescu” -, Mexican tenor Hector Lopez and the gospel ensemble “The Sinners Quartet”. In this artistic journey, directed by Anda Tabacaru Hogea, Felicia Filip will be accompanied by the pianist Ioana Maxim.
