Nati Meir suffered a stroke

Nati Meir, a former candidate for president of Romania, suffered a stroke yesterday and was rushed by medical ambulance from the Galati Penitentiary to the Poarta Alba Penitentiary Hospital. According to the spokesperson for the prison facility, Meir complained of heart pains Sunday, when he was also taken by ambulance and admitted to the Galati County Hospital where doctors however decided the patient should be taken to the Poarta Alba Penitentiary Hospital instead. Meir, a former deputy with the Greater Romania Party (PRM) and candidate for president of Romania, is being detained at the Galati penitentiary while awaiting trial for influence peddling, as he allegedly demanded money from a person, also detained in the same prison, in order to get the latter’s preventive arrest revoked.
