Although he was rumored to take over Steaua this summer, Cosmin Olaroiu denied the allegations that he had reached an agreement with Gigi Becali and Mihai Stoica. Head coach Cosmin Olaroiu dismissed the information concerning his return to Steaua this summer. “I haven’t negotiated with Steaua and I haven’t signed anything, nothing happened. I didn’t think about taking over a Romanian team, first of all I’d like to rest,” Olaroiu stated for DigiSport. The head coach that took Steaua to the UEFA Cup semifinals in 2006 resigned from Al Sadd before Christmas, however he underlined that he is not free of contract yet, with that making it impossible for him to negotiate with another club. “It’s possible Al Sadd will accept my resignation. I have a very high contract cancellation clause, we’ll see if they want me to pay it. I would like to cancel the contract now but I don’t know how the negotiations will go,” the head coach explained. Olaroiu is mentioned every time the issue of having Steaua’s head coach replaced arises. On Monday Steaua resumed its training under the leadership of head coach Marius Lacatus and his new assistant coach Gabriel Caramarin.
