Presents received by head of state in 2010

The president Traian Basescu received 57 presents last year, amounting to a total value of EUR 2,430, including a banner of the Cioaba Royal House, a leather flask, a metal helmet and a leather whip, as well as a 120 cm-long ship model, all of which will remain in the institution’s patrimony. According to a document posted on the Presidential Administration website, the president received, among other objects, nine statues, 10 medals, six paintings and three icons, and, the most expensive present, a ship model, 120 cm-long, estimated at EUR 200. The head of state was also presented last year with a map of 1575 Europe, estimated at EUR 100, a blue statue of Stephen the Great, 30 cm-tall, appraised at EUR 20, a carved wooden ladle, measuring 50 cm and worth EUR 10, and a silver sword, in a blue case, offered by the Defence Ministry, evaluated at EUR 180. At the same time, Traian Basescu was offered a manually embroidered work, worth EUR 180, two icons representing the Virgin Mary, estimated at EUR 130, a rug representing Mihai Eminescu, worth EUR 30, and a panpipe in a black case, appraised at EUR 60.
