European citizens, including Romanians, can travel to Taiwan on visa-free short-term tourist visits of up to 90 days, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced. This measure unilaterally taken by Taiwanese authorities for citizens of EU member states came into effect from yesterday. MAE urges that Romanian citizens strictly observe tourist visit deadlines if they seek to travel to Taiwan. Taiwan liberalizing its visa regime to EU citizens will not bear any effect whatsoever on Romania’s formal stand of acknowledging a single China, as Romania continues viewing Taiwan as an inseparable part of China’s territory, the MAE release also reads.
