CE official discusses today means of preventing EU funds fraud

The European Commissioner for Taxation, Customs, Anti-fraud and Audit, Algirdas Semeta, is on an official visit in Romania today, in the course of which he will address the measures Romania has taken to prevent fraud and irregularities in the use of EU funds, the EC Representation in Bucharest informs, quoted by Mediafax. Another object of the visit is, according to the same source, identifying “the fields in which the Commission may offer advice and support in encouraging and consolidating the progress made by the said member-state”. The Commissioner will also present his agenda for the current year in the field of taxation and will address, with his Romanian counterparts, topics such as the VAT strategy, the common consolidated corporate tax base or the taxation of the financial sector. Seneta is scheduled to meet Gheorghe Ialomitianu, the Minister of Public Finance, Radu Marginean, the head of the National Customs Authority, and Claudiu Dumitrescu, the head of the Anti-fraud Department (DLAF).
