Child sold on installment plan to be brought back to Romania

Romanian authorities have started making overtures in order to repatriate the child sold in France on the basis of installments in 2004, ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ informs. The Roma family sold its baby for EUR 5,100 to another Roma family living in France. Rodica Lacatus (29) and Nelu Moldovan (30) – the child’s parents – have been detained for 29 days on Tuesday evening, being charged with child trafficking. Prosecutors from the Office for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) apprehended the two on Monday while they were collecting the last installment. Lacatus and Moldovan have two other children, aged 3 and 8. During the hearings the two told the prosecutors they regret their actions.
