A 60-year-old male from Iasi has been diagnosed with swine flu. According to Antena 3, the man is reported in severe condition. This is the first such case reported in Romania this year. Marius Voicescu, spokesman for the Iasi Public Health department, told Mediafax that the virus had been confirmed by experts at the Cantacuzino Institute in Bucharest. Doctors say the man began feeling will shortly after he returned from a winter holiday trip to Egypt. He went to the hospital, where doctors told him he was likely to have contracted the AH1N1 virus.
The man however did not accept to be admitted to hospital on grounds his condition was not severe. Later on, his condition worsened, which led to his being eventually admitted in serious condition to the Intensive Care Unit at the Pneumophthsiology Hospital in Iasi.
