The Foreign Affairs Ministry recommends to Romanians in Ivory Coast to immediately leave the country, “given the imminent risk of a civil war outbreak,” Mediafax reports. Clashes in Ivory Coast have erupted after a November 28 presidential runoff, in which both candidates claimed victory, the Foreign Ministry explained. Romania has no diplomatic mission or consular office in the Ivory Coast. As European Union citizens, Romanians can demand the release of an emergency travel document from any diplomatic mission of EU states in the country. The ministry also recommended that Romanians in Ivory Coast contact Romania’s Embassy to Senegal to announce their presence in the region.
