Debates on electronic communications bill extended

The debates on the new bill regarding electronic communications, meant to set up the framework applicable at a national level in this sector, were extended by a week, up to January 21, 2011, the Communications Regulatory Authority announced, yesterday, quoted by HotNews. The extension was granted at the request of a number of operators, who asked for more time to complete a detailed and fair analysis of the implications of the main modifications stipulated in the bill. As regards users’ rights, the new piece of legislation introduces a provision by which providers are under the obligation to include, in the contract, information regarding any conditions limiting the access or the use of certain services and applications. The modifications to the European telecommunications framework have to be translated into the national legislation by May 25, 2011, at the latest.
