Newly-born abandoned outside monastery

Iasi police opened an inquiry into the identity of a woman who abandoned her baby a short while after giving birth Wednesday evening. The woman was opened a criminal file in absentia for putting the baby’s life in jeopardy, Agerpres reports. Complex investigations are underway aimed at identifying the mother who, if found guilty, is liable for a prison term of one to three years,” Sub-inspector Virginia Pralea explained. The newborn female when was found abandoned outside the gate of the Frumoasa monastery in Iasi, Wednesday around 7.00 pm. The police, and the doctors at the Cuza Voda Maternity Hospital say the baby, weighing 3.050 kgs, did not have the umbilical chord cut and was still attached to her placenta. She was found wrapped up into a bed-sheet and a jacket. She was taken to the Cuza Voda Maternity Hospital . Doctors say she had been abandoned about two and a half hours after birth.
