U Craiova will not stay without a head coach for long after it parted ways with Victor Piturca, the club currently negotiating with Nicolo Napoli, hotnews.ro informs. In case he reaches an agreement with the club the Italian head coach will chalk up his third term at the helm of the team. Napoli previously coached Universitatea in 2004 and in October 2007 – May 2009. Having appointed a new technical staff, the club has also started setting things straight when it comes to the players too. The club decided to part ways with three players that had close ties with Victor Piturca. Laurentiu Reghecampf, Universitatea’s new manager, confirmed the changes and stated that they are for “the good of the team.” Razvan Stanca, Dorel Stoica and Alexandru Piturca are the players set to leave. “Alex Piturca, Dorel Stoica and Razvan Stanca have been made players free of contract for the good of the team. I don’t believe replacing a player will be a problem, irrespective of his name,” Reghecampf confirmed. “I wanted to leave Craiova, it was the normal choice in my view. I couldn’t continue considering the latest events. Mr. Mititelu told me that he would like me to stay, however I could not have stayed any longer. We parted ways amicably; I’m leaving as a player free of contract. He understood my choice,” striker Piturca stated for sport.ro.
