BNR transferred EUR 6,870 to ECB

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) transferred EUR 6,870 to the European Central Bank (ECB) after the European institution raised its share capital by EUR 5 bln (from EUR 5.76 bln to EUR 10.76 bln), according to a notice posted on ECB’s website, HotNews.ro reports. The European bank supplemented its capital to counteract more effectively the increased volatility of exchange rates, as well as to better manage the credit risk. At present, BNR’s subscribed capital in ECB amounts to EUR 265.19 M. The central banks in the euro zone have to hand in their additional capital in three instalments, the first of which was transferred on December 29.
