Romania – steepest monthly drop in construction activity in the EU

Romania reported, last November, the steepest drop in the construction sector across the EU, of 4.6 per cent, compared to October figures, in the context in which the indicator fell in three other states and ebbed by 0.4 per cent at EU level, Eurostat reports. In November, the activity of the construction sector also slumped in the United Kingdom (-1.4 pc), France (-1.3 pc) and Germany (-1.1 pc). The most significant monthly rises of the indicator were reported in Portugal (4 pc), Bulgaria (2.6 pc) and Poland (2.4 pc), while in Holland it remained steady. In the EU, production in the construction sector dropped by 1.7 per cent in November 2010, compared to the same month of the preceding year.
