Taxi driver killed in severe car crash on DN1

A taxi driver died Wednesday night on the Baneasa Bridge of DN1, near Bucharest, when another car pushed his taxi on the opposite lane. The taxi was completely wrecked and the driver killed, while the driver and passengers of the other car were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The crash occurred as the taxi was leaving Bucharest. As he was going to take a call, he saw another car changing lanes and ramming him head-on. Though ambulance medics tried hard to save his life, the man passed away. Even before the ambulance arrived, the drivers that witnessed the tragedy jumped to the rescue of the victims. Police opened a probe, trying to understand whether the accident was caused by the fence installed along the median strip, precisely to prevent crashes.
