Lipton recently launched in Romania an innovative offer of green and white tea, in the unique shape of pyramid bags – Lipton Green and Lipton White. Speaking about the evolution of the company’s Tea Division in Romania and in the region, Daniel Barbulescu, Category Manager with Unilever, said in a press conference that Lipton was the best performing brand of all product categories present in the portfolio of Unilever during year 2010. In Romania, though it has a growing trend, consumption is still low at 10 liters a year per capita, 10 times smaller than coffee, and far under countries like Poland, with 30 liters, or Russia, with 50 liters per capita each year. According to Ruslan Romaniuc, Brand Manager Lipton, two main trends were present in the market: stagnation, which actually means a decline of consumption, given the increases scored during the 2007-2009 interval, and a preference for the premium products of international and local producers. According to company officials, on the total tea market, Lipton ranks fourth in terms of market share, but it is leader on the segments of black, white and green tea.
