One million euros theft

A person in Ploiesti was robbed of approximately EUR 1 M which, according to the victim, came from a series of real-estate transactions conducted three or four years ago, Realitatea TV reports. Sources in the Prahova County Police (IPJ) stated the money had initially been kept in the bank, then withdrawn in 2007-2008 and placed in an old suitcase, kept under a ladder in the unused home of the victim’s parents. If the amount is confirmed, this will be the biggest theft in the history of the Prahova County Police. In a town in Dambovita County, four masked individuals broke, on Saturday morning, into the local mayor’s office and made off with approximately RON 20,000, from the cash machine, after savagely beating and tying up the community police agent who guarded the mayor’s office, abandoning him afterwards in a room of the institution. A masked man, with an axe, tried, on Friday evening, to rob a post-office in Galati, but left empty-handed, after the postal workers, who were present in the office at the time of the attempted theft, told him there had been no cashing operation and there was no money.
